Our Team
Ursa Major Robotics has competed in the FIRST Robotics Competition since 2023. We compete at the Canadian Pacific Regional every year at the Pacific Coliseum in Vancouver, BC.
Ursa Major takes in students of all levels and teaches them the basics and skills required to both work as a team and succeed in a field that they are interested in.
There is a new competition goal every year, which is generally announced on the first or second Saturday of January. From there, teams receive approximately 6 weeks to completely build their robot from scratch before competitions begin. At competitions, games are played in “Alliances” of 3 teams each, meaning that there are 6 robots on the field at a time. The qualifiers help rank teams, where the top 8 then become “Alliance Captains”, allowing them to pick their other two alliance partners for the playoffs.
Every year at the Canadian Pacific Regional, anywhere from about 30-50 different teams compete from across the world, such as the United States, Mexico, Brazil, Türkiye, China, Taiwan, Vietnam, and Australia.
